Planning an ice bath and chiller for a Bali hotel or villa
An ice bath purchase is also a decision about heat rejection, water care and staff workload. Before choosing a chiller, define how the bath will be used. A private plunge and a shared hospitality facility need different operating plans.

Describe demand before comparing equipment
Give the supplier the bath volume, planned operating hours, expected pattern of guest use and whether the water is shared between users. Identify the target operating conditions to be assessed by the equipment supplier. The chiller’s advertised power alone does not describe recovery performance in your installation.
Ask for performance information relevant to the selected unit and the expected ambient conditions, plus the conditions behind any test result. A photograph of a cold display is not evidence of recovery time under repeated guest use.
Reserve space beyond the bath
Show where the chiller will stand, how it rejects heat and how technicians will reach it. Keep manufacturer-required clearances available. A tightly enclosed equipment cupboard may look tidy while preventing the specified airflow. Confirm pipe routing, electrical requirements, condensate management and the safe route between changing, bathing and rest areas.
For an outdoor coastal site, tell the supplier about exposure to weather and salt. Ask which components and protective arrangements are suitable for that location. Avoid assuming that every outdoor-rated component has the same corrosion or maintenance requirements.
Allocate responsibility for shared water
Before commercial opening, appoint a person responsible for the operating and cleaning records. Ask a qualified water-treatment professional to specify the treatment, testing, cleaning and response procedures appropriate to the system and local requirements. Filtration and a low temperature do not, on their own, establish hygienic shared water.
The CDC Model Aquatic Health Code is a useful US reference for thinking about aquatic-facility operation; it is not Indonesian law or an approval for a particular cold plunge. The applicable local requirements and the supplier’s instructions must be checked for the actual project.
What a useful handover contains
Request the installed equipment list, operating manuals, water-care responsibilities, maintenance access and service contact. Agree how performance will be demonstrated on site before acceptance. Five Elements manufactures chillers and ice baths; selection and pricing follow the project brief rather than a one-size-fits-all package.
Project checklist
- Bath volume and actual guest-use pattern
- Chiller location, airflow and service access
- Documented water-care responsibilities
- Agreed commissioning checks and aftercare
Can one bath specification serve both a private villa and a hotel?
Do not assume so. Shared use, staffing, cleaning and repeated use change the brief. Ask for a proposal based on your operating conditions.
